It's common for Couples to tell me they've hardly any nice photos of the two of them together. Some because they're always present, living in the moment and forgetting to take a quick snap. Others tell me they avoid cameras at all costs, thinking they come across as awkward and simply "hate it". I'm this person, as soon as a camera is pointed your way you forget how to move your face and your hands flap about not quite knowing what to do. It's why my approach to photography is candid, and my sessions relaxed and fun.

Every session is beautifully personal as it's planned around what you love. Let's take a wander through the woods as the leaves turn golden. Champagne picnic by the sea. A stroll through the university campus where you first met. Star-gazing in the garden from a tent adorned with fairy lights.
My approach is to create fun, natural and meaningful images while you're hanging out having a great time, on I guess you could call it, a date.
First things first, we'll have a chat
Typically I chat to couples over email, but I'm more than happy to schedule a voice or video call. Ask me any questions you may have, and we can use the time to jot down ideas. Use this time to check I'm a good fit for you. As in life some personalities click and others don't, and with photography being so personal it's important you find someone you connect with. I promise I won't be offended if I'm not the photographer for you.
behind the scenes, BOOKING TO SHOOT DAY
You've officially booked in, so it's time to start planning and get creative. Tell me your vision and we'll discuss locations** and dates. If you have an abstract idea but are unsure on the execution, describe it as best you can and I'll do some research. We'll iron out the logistics way ahead of time. The date of your session will likely be determined by the seasons and your preferred colour palette, or restrictions from venues between peak and off-peak. This is also the case for setting a meet time, as we'll likely want to use the softest light.
With our session about a fortnight away, I'll be in touch via email to pass on some tips for the day and in typical British fashion we'll discuss and check the weather forecasts ALOT.
today's the day!
It's the day of our session! If you're feeling a little anxious please be assured that's perfectly normal (lots of couples are) but I hope by the end you'll see there was nothing to worry about. We'll spend most of the time on our feet walking about the space, chatting as we shoot. I keep the session relaxed and fun, occasionally directing you in terms of angles. Mostly I'll give you silly little games or tasks that'll ease you in and get everyone laughing. Outlandish anecdotes, slightly inappropriate jokes and playfulness are highly encouraged during your session.

GETTING MARRIED?
I swear by a Portrait Session before your big day. I believe it makes a huge difference to the quality of your wedding day images that I include a session in both of my full-day Wedding Packages. It's a chance to see how I work, and particularly helpful if you feel you're nervous or awkward in front of the camera.
These sessions help me build a relationship with you, understand how to get the best photographs from you and to get to know your story without time pressures. Couples say it really helps with getting to know me too, so I'm not the stranger in the corner on their wedding day.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

* Travel exceeding that included with a given package is calculated at £0.45 per mile.
**Some locations require a photo permit or fee, in these cases the cost is not covered within the above Session price.
DEPOSIT & PAYMENT
- All prices include VAT.
- All bookings require a deposit to secure coverage. Portraits require a Deposit of £60.
- £25 of Portrait Deposits is non-refundable, it being the agreed loss suffered by the Photographer for admin and communication costs carried out from first contact through to cancellation. The remaining Deposit amount is refundable up until a week prior to your session, it being the agreed loss to the Photographer for holding your date.
- Remaining balances are due no later than 48 hours following your session, unless otherwise agreed before booking.
- Please note all bookings made more than 1 year in advance will have an additional 2% added to their balance (applying to both Packages and Extras) to account for price rises over this time. This has been put in place to allow for easy planning and budgeting on your part as the price quoted upon booking will not change unless there is a significant national or global event (including but is not limited to a national lockdowns, severe weather event, global conflict etc). Should any occur, you will be contacted ahead of time with an updated remaining balance, you will have the option of a refund should you wish not to continue with the coverage.
TRAVEL
- Additional travel is calculated one way. For example AL7 to B16 is 98 miles. Portrait Sessions include 50 miles travel, for the additional 48 miles this would be 48 x £0.45, so £21.60.
- In some cases travel within London postcodes (N, NW, W, SW, SE, E, WC & EC) may incur an additional charge even if within 20 miles of AL7. Please ask for a quote.
PRODUCTS & EXTRAS
- Image delivery via your Online Gallery takes 2 to 4 weeks depending on the time of year. June to November is my busiest period, sessions during this time will have longer turnarounds.
- Physical Products and Extras all have different creation/delivery times, which is set externally. Typical turnaround time is within 15 working days, however this will extend further for personalised items.
- Lane & Grey use external suppliers for all products (USBs, Folios, Boxes etc) meaning they are subject to change or have slight design variations as supply is outside of Lane & Grey’s control. Any changes will be shown to the Client before purchases are made.
- Prices of Extras may also be subject to change. Lane & Grey cannot guarantee the price of Extras advertised at your time of booking will be the same if purchased at a later date.
